About
Marc Klaver and me started this blog to share some things we’re doing with SCOM 2007. We are both full time MOM2005 and SCOM2007 admins and currently migrating our mom-managed servers to scom.
We’ll be using SCOM 2007 for monitoring over 60 forests which don’t have a trust with our monitoring domain/forest. The SCOM environment has been sized to a maximum of 10,000 servers, but we’ll expect to monitor around 6,000 servers.
Also the network infrastructure is quite complex. Monitored Servers usually need to pass two or more firewalls and also might be behind one or more NAT devices.
We have several teams of administrators who are responsible for these monitored servers. And they are not allowed to see servers they aren’t responsible for.
These things combined should make some interesting posts on how we’ve solved issues like DNS resolving, Authentication, Scoping of users, etc.

We don’t have subscriptions and notifications active. We have a monitoring team which is observing the console on a 24×7 basis.
